Benevolent Care Endowment Fund
Bishop Spencer Place is a community of good people who care about each other. Through the voluntary contributions of generous residents and our friends in the community-at-large, those who experience difficulty in paying their monthly service fees may be eligible to receive financial assistance through our endowment fund. Even if they exhaust their resources, they’ll never be asked to leave Bishop Spencer Place.

A Message From Our Board
February 22, 2017
The start of 2017 is an especially exciting time at Bishop Spencer Place as we are now officially part of Saint Luke’s Health System (SLHS), and our employees, management and board of directors are part of the SLHS team. This affiliation enables us to explore opportunities to expand services and provide more advanced care. As Kansas City’s premier health care provider, Saint Luke’s Health System shares our dedication to ensuring Bishop Spencer Place is the region’s premier retirement community.
Over the years Bishop Spencer Place has touched the lives of many people with our benevolent care program as we continue to fulfill our mission of providing a quality lifestyle to all we serve. Since opening in 1995, we have provided more than $15 million of benevolent care to those who have needed financial assistance to continue living at BSP. We couldn’t have achieved this without your support and want you to know how truly grateful we are for your continued involvement.
To provide support for benevolent care, we have in place the Bishop Robert Nelson Spencer Annual Fund and the Cavanaugh Benevolent Care Endowment Fund. We also introduced our planned giving program two years ago, Companions of the Cross. Now, as part of the Saint Luke’s Health System, these donors will become recognized as members of The Heritage Society of Saint Luke’s Foundation. Please review the three enclosed forms that describe these funds, and if you choose to donate, please complete the form(s) and return in the enclosed self-addressed, postage-paid envelope.
Bishop Spencer Place could not continue to raise the bar for exceptional retirement living in Kansas City without your support. We thank you for your continued generosity, which will ensure Bishop Spencer Place will be Kansas City’s premier retirement community for years to come!
